Wanda Biana Selma Ziegler (née Muller) Candy store chain president b. 1874, Ballersted, Prussia; d. March 3, 1967, Fort Langley, B.C. Came to Vancouver in 1911 with husband Fritz (b. Germany) and two children. Her father was reeve of Ballersted, an office passed on in family since the 15th Century. Fritz established Ziegler Chocolate Shops in 1921. When he died in 1923, there were three shops. Wanda became president, developing the chain to 11 Lower Mainland stores. Her son, Fritz Alfred Wilhelm (b. Feb. 12, 1902, Wittenberge, Germany) served as managing director. She retired in 1956, after 33 years, and the shops closed.
